Just wanted to post some pictures. Annastyn Mae Mitchell w/ her great-grandma (Anna Mae Mitchell)--March 2006. Turns out there were two sisters (Mae Goode Atkins September 11, 1886-April 4, 1970 and Anna Goode Miller November 12, 1887-April 11, 1968). These are Brian's grandmother's aunts--which maybe makes them Brian's great-aunts and Annastyn's great-great aunts (but I'm not sure if that's the way it works.

Anyways, these sisters were buried next to each other. We got a picture of the tombstone. Pretty neat!

Want to be finanancially saavy--check out this quote!

One from President Heber J. Grant, focusing on the temporal blessings of tithe paying, said, “I want to repeat to the Latter-day Saints my firm belief that God our Heavenly Father…gives wisdom to those men and to those women who are strictly honest with Him in the payment of their tithing.” In a later statement President Grant said, “I believe that to those who are liberal [in paying tithing] the Lord gives ideas, and they grow in capacity and ability more rapidly than those that are stingy.”

Brian's new job

Brian was offered a job today with Haag, Friedrich & Blume, a law firm in Inverness. He accepted their offer. He will begin working with them in mid-April as a law clerk until he is sworn into the Bar (hopefully late April/early May). They will then upgrade him to the position of a First-Year Associate! He is super excited about this new position and he feels that the firm will fit his personality. It sounds like the attorney that he worked with over the summer recommended him for this position. Anyways--thanks for caring!

"Terrorists, Hurricanes and Viruses: What’ s Next?"

Today at the Clearinghouse we had a guest lecturer speak on Terrorists, Hurricanes, and Viruses: What's next? I wasn't able to attend (because of the girls) but I watched it as a Webcast. He discussed the ramifications of a pandemic from various viruses--such as the Avian Flu. He said that a vaccine cannot be developed until the virus has mutated. At this point, it is expected that there will be 3-6 months (at a minimum) period to develop a vaccine to treat the mutated virus. There might be some degree of quarantine during this period of time.

What it tells me: FOOD STORAGE is going to be super important!!! We might all want to re-evaluate our efforts to fulfill this vital commandment!

How to Write a Blog

If you just post a comment--it will not show up--unless someone clicks on the comments.

This is how to post a blog.

When you get to this website--on the right hand side (mid way down) you'll see a little red square w/ a funny shaped "B" in it. Click on that. It will take you "behind the scenes". You'll see a little menu with a green plus sign (+). The column is titled "NEW POST". If you click on the little plus sign--it'll take you to an "email-like" screen. That's where you post your blog.

It gives you on option to spell check and to add pictures. (To add a picture click on the little square that looks like a snapshot).

Hope this helps!

Trip to W.V.

THEME FOR MARCH POSTS: What Matters Most Is What Lasts Longest (M. Russell Ballard): The article is about strengthening families!

We had a great trip and it was neat to see some of the sites! (Including the Emergency Room of the local hospital).

We started talking about a Family Reunion sometime during the summer months. The idea would be to meet "somewhere in the middle" and have a little weekend "get-away"

As a kid, my family went to a place called Fontana Village in North Carolina! It was always a blast.

Check out the website at http://www.fontanavillage.com/
Let me know if you are interested!

Thanks for joining this little blogging group--and hopefully we can get back on track w/ the newsletters!
